YMCA SCUBA Training
Wish You Were Here ... Diving teaches through the YMCA SCUBA training agency (YSCUBA) because the history of national dive training in the United States began with the development of the YMCA SCUBA Program. The YSCUBA Program continues to be a leader in providing a training methodology that serves the student diver effectively and efficiently while maintaining unsurpassed standards producing better trained and safer divers.
Due to YSCUBA's high standards, the YMCA SCUBA Program remains the only SCUBA certification organization in the United States to offer the CMAS (Confederation Mondiale Des Activities Subaquatiques) international certification card. CMAS is the only world diving organization. This organization is composed of some 14,000 diving clubs, 82 national federations and 4.5 million divers. If you are planning to dive in Europe a CMAS certification card will smooth the way (a CMAS card will allow you to dive in countries where authorization is needed) and the only place in America you can get one is through the YSCUBA program.

Divers Alert Network Training
Wish You Were Here ... Diving teaches Divers Alert Network (DAN) courses in an effort to provide comprehensive training to the dive community by disseminating the latest information on topics related to diving first aid and safety.
Wish You Were Here ... Diving has met all of the criteria to become a DAN Training Center (DTC). Yet, since we do not have a walk in store front the great people at DAN Business Membership and DAN Training have informed us that we can not become a DAN Training Center. If we were to have a walk in store front then this designation (we would be only one of only four in the state of Virginia, and the only one in the Charlottesville area) by DAN clearly would illustrate Wish You Were Here ... Diving's commitment to promoting dive safety through DAN training programs.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or Professional Development Units (PDUs) may be granted to diving leadership personnel for participating in some of the DAN courses listed below as authorized by their respective training agency.
Having watched several of our friends hurt or die while diving, we can not stress enough that this is the training that every diver NEEDS to have but we hope that they never HAVE to need it.
